Apartment
description :
A
rather romantic place located in one of the narrowest
streets from Paris; a street that has a very rich
history since the Middle Ages, having undergone
a period of financial apogee while the banker John
Law founded a bank inside the Beaufort Hotel, it
also had to face a period of public scandal and
confusion, due to the speculation that came upon
the bills used by this bank and the Indes Company
stock, and the resulting runaway from the banker
of doubtful reputation.
Its enchanting door arches along with the colorful
flower bases that hang from many windows on each
side of the street, gives it a very romantic and
calm character that gets accentuated by the contrast
between shadows and light percolating through the
building roofs and window arches.
Located in a 16th century building, this apartment's
high ceilings lead to a mezzanine furnished with
a king size bed and where an interior balcony is
directly linked to an ample living room located
in the lower level.
The dark slate tile floors, kitchen and dining room
counters embellish this place and give it some shades
of a southern vacation residence, garnishing the
spaces with a touch of rustic antique flavor. Distinctively,
the living room space and furniture reveal a much
more contemporary fashion illuminated by the radiant
flux of light coming from a broad and tall window
that faces the street and whose background of flowers
and whitewash painted walls softens the artistic
imperfections from the immediate panorama.
Quincampoix,
in the past a street of conflict, but also a center
of many transactional and commercial operations,
nowadays seems to be a place for other attractions.
This street was called Street of Diamonds, La
Couréerie, la Courroirie, and the old Courroirie,
however, the name it has nowadays was given by
a neighbor who actually lived there during the
13th century. It is a charming, narrow street
two blocks west of the Centre Pompidou and one
of the city's most hipper and peculiar streets.
Rue Quincampoix houses lots of innovative restaurants,
cozy cafes, and up-and-coming art galleries, and
it is perfect for the purpose of getting a glimpse
of Paris' contemporary art scene, or having a
meal or drink in an original but unusual setting.
Parallel to it and two blocks east, the Centre
Pompidou and Beaubourg will be at hand, and going
south on Rue Rénard and just pass Rue de
Rivoli, The Hotel de Ville will be at easy reach
as well as the Cathedral of Notre Dame located
south west from it, which will be at sight and
surrounded by the waters of the Seine River at
L'ille de la Cité. Further west, the Louvre
Museum and its geometrical view of the Pyramids
will be more and more evident while walking along
the river and turning right on Pont du Carroussel.
Less than 5 minutes and walking west, Chatelet
and Les Halles will be the places to go for a
shopping spree fun afternoon. Everything is located
within a 3 to 600 meter radius. No need to go
further away, unless you are visiting other places
further out, such as the Eiffel Tower. One of
the advantages of being at Le Marais is the variety
of lines and means of transportation to go anywhere
in the city, and its overall resourceful character.
