Apartment
description :
|
|
| |
The apartment is wonderfully located in the famed
Marais. Two minutes to the north is the Pompidou
Centre and Stravinsky Fountains, two minutes to
the south the Hotel de Ville and the Seine, with
the towers of Notre Dame in the background marking
your eight minute walk across the Isle de la Cité
to the Left Bank.
Our building at number 83 is right next door to
the agency at 85, and although its façade
looks old, it was built in 1976, while the apartment
itself has recently been totally renovated. Its
fittings are thus very modern with full-length sliding
glass doors, looking out onto a large courtyard
garden and the sixteenth century Hotel de Reims
with its exterior beamed staircase, described as
unique in Jacques Hillairets Connaisance
du Vieux Paris. The elevator takes all the
slog out of being on the third floor and there is
locked ground-floor storage for bikes/ strollers/pushchairs
etc. The Rue de la Verrerie is a constant buzz of
restaurants, cafes, galleries and shops , but inside
the apartment, the atmosphere is utterly calm, peaceful
and flooded with light. Round the corner in the
Rue St Martin are wonderful bakeries, clothes boutiques,
the best cheap DVDs in Paris and a brilliant bookshop.
The rue Rambuteau to the north is full of individual
specialised food shops, while at the foot of our
building are two supermarkets, both of which stay
open late, and which stock everything you can imagine
from iced Champagne, to champignons, to shampoo
and all else in between.
The apartment is fitted with high-speed ASDL, and
the television cable system accesses about two hundred
channels including CNN/CNBC/BBC Prime etc. There
are also DVD and CD players so you can play your
new disc purchases as soon as youve bought
them. There is an amazing array of local eateries.
We especially enjoy the cool trendy Café
Beaubourg; the riotous, economical Bistrot de Beaubourg
and the subtle flavours of Le Grizzli all
of them within a couple of minutes of the front
door. And for major shopping its hard to beat
our local department store just along the road -
the famous BHV with a whole basement devoted to
the most rare and recherché hardware left
on the planet. Enjoy!
