flat is located on the third floor (no elevator)
of a 17th century building in a historical area
of Paris. It is set back from the street so that
even though the area outside is busy, the flat is
quiet and peaceful. The flat consists of an entrance
hall, lounge, bedroom, small kitchen, small bathroom
with shower and toilet. Floor to ceiling windows
give good natural light from small internal courtyards.
The apartment includes a Queen bed and one sofa
bed for 2 people, bathroom with shower and a kitchen
equipped with fridge, cooking range and microwave.

The flat is situated two minutes from the metro
Saint Michel on the left Bank. It is on a direct
line from Gare du Nord if you are travelling on
Eurostar. Rue St Andre des Arts is a narrow street
with few cars. It is filled with small shops cafes,
brasseries and restaurants which are generally open
until late. One tiny restaurant on the corner of
rue de l'Hirondelle opposite provides diners with
a mini theatre perfomance or poetry reading after
they have eaten. There is an internet cafe in the
little street opposite. Shakespear and company at
37 rue de la Bucherie, five minutes away is Paris
most famous English bookshop situated on the Seine,
it is open till midnight. Rue St Andre des Arts
is situated between Boulevard St Michel and the
elegant Boulevard Saint Germain. Saint Germain has
many designer boutiques and more brasseries and
cafes including Cafe Flore frequented by Jean Paul
Sartre during the forties. From the flat it is two
minutes to the Seine and five minutes walk to Notre
Dame. Artists can be seen painting on the bank of
the river on Sunday morning and the pavement alongside
the river is lined with stalls selling prints, old
magazines and books and crafts each day. Three minutes
to the left of the flat is rue De Bucci filled with
market stalls, delicatessens selling an amazing
range of beautifully presented foods, pavement cafes
(even in winter), restaurants and shops. This area
has art galleries, jazz clubs, pubs and tea rooms
so there is something for everybody.
Historical Paris within walking distance. The Louvre,
Pompidou Center and Musee D'Orsay are an easy walk
away. |
